We hope you all have had an incredible start to December!
Here in Branson, we are stuffed full of turkey and
Susan will serve as the Communications Director to lead the creative communications teams to raise brand awareness through a variety of traditional and digital marketing tactics. She is passionate for the mission of Kanakuk Ministries to evangelize and equip the next generation to reach the world for Christ.
In fact, Susan is no stranger to Kanakuk! As a Kamper for nine years, she has fond memories of her time at Kamp.
“When I was nine, I accepted Christ in Barn 2 of K-Kountry. God has faithfully used Kanakuk to disciple me, train me and provide a place to teach me how to live out that decision,” said Susan when asked what her favorite memory of Kamp is. “One of my counselor’s names that summer was Allison – later that school year she wrote me a letter and ended it by sharing Isaiah 40:31 - one of the first verses I’ve ever committed to memory.”
This verse states: “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Through the positive impact
Kanakuk and her counselors had on her, Susan realized the potential she had to
serve and hope in the Lord. Susan worked as a
counselor-in-training the summer after high school. Later, she spent her
college summers serving at K-1 as a counselor and eventually a leadership team
member. Now she will bring with her more than 10 years of communications
experience to serve as a full-time staff member in communications.
“I am excited to start a new chapter of my career within Kanakuk,” said Vermillion. “Having the opportunities to facilitate and lead a team to shape national brands communications has been invaluable and I am looking forward to using my experiences at Kanakuk.”
Prior to joining the Kanakuk team, Vermillion served as a Senior Director of Client Partnership at Ansira Partners, LLC (formerly Razor) in Dallas, Texas, leading the Domino’s Pizza account. Other notable experience includes her position as Management Supervisor & Associate Director of Client Services at Ackerman McQueen Advertising Agency. She also is the principal of Vermillion Consulting + Coaching, her own consulting firm which she launched after working as a Brand Manager at Sonic Drive-In Industries, both in Oklahoma City, Okla.
“We feel very blessed that Susan is coming back to Kanakuk and bringing with her experiences and passion that we are confident will serve our communications team and Kampers well,” said Joe White, President of Kanakuk Ministries.
When she’s not in the office, Susan enjoys volunteering in the community, traveling, finding new places to explore and …and is looking forward to shooting archery and getting back into a canoe on Taneycomo! She is currently creating a bucket list of must-do activities in Branson.
